Great Design is a Result of Function and Innovation

The Goal

With high impact, high visibility, and real materials, we strive to create experience and entry points that say “this is who we are” – and not delivered in a subtle way! Styles don’t echo across our projects with many projects exhibiting a totally different design sensibility and purpose. Different Client + Different Goals + Different Use = Not the same project regurgitated. Building and site design is the place where form and function intertwine and as a multi-discipline firm, we get more opportunities to free ourselves from the confines of consciously creating a specific style. Looking at the client’s needs for how the building or site design should function is the door to innovation and authenticity. Through that doorway, style is a natural byproduct, not the objective.

The Journey
1.

By concentrating on the design process – understanding the client's needs, the site's characteristics, and the project's goals – architects can create spaces that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing in an uncontrived way. An organic architectural style is one that evolves. It's a product of ongoing dialogue, experimentation, and adaptation.

2.

This evolution can lead to a more cohesive and adaptable design. Things can come together to create design as simple as summer people take up less space through a doorway than winter people (2 inches, typically) and that can make all the difference to a customer in a heavy parka!

3.

Limitations can create opportunity for creativity, the potential design solutions that live inside an awkward site, inconvenient topography, one side of the building facing an unappealing building façade, all these things offer an opportunity for a solution, and it’s one of the strengths of a multi-discipline team to come together to create one. We can turn those unfortunate features into an opportunity to create something unique that makes the whole project better.

The Forum

Each building tells its own story. When the style is a natural outcome of the design process, it ensures that every structure is unique, reflecting its own specific journey from concept to completion. The Forum was a It's in the unscripted, the unplanned, where the magic of genuine style lies. This approach not only fosters creativity and innovation but also ensures our designs are sincere, functional, and timeless. In the world of architecture, sometimes the most beautiful results come from the journey, not the destination.
